Polak & Kassem Get Black Swan Call Up

Tuesday, May 14, 2013 - 10:48 PM

After completion of the recent WAFL 16s Carnival, the WA State 16s Academy announced a squad of 34 to compete in the NAB AFL 16s Championships being held in early July at the Blacktown International Sports Stadium in western Sydney.

The Perth Football Club managed to have two players from the Robert Wiley Foundation (RWF) XVIs Development Squad selected for state duties in 2013 and it was no surprise that Reid Polak and Yusef Kassem received the nod from the State Selectors.

Both lads had very consistent performances over the five rounds of the 2013 WAFL 16s Carnival and proved that their football pathway is full of exciting times ahead.   RWF XVIs Head Coach, Bruce Fraser gave a glowing summation of the talented duo;

Yusef Kassem

“Built perfectly for a variety of roles on field, and preferred to play down back where he could read the play, run off opponents and make bold attacking runs.   Yusef enjoyed attacking the footy and delivering to a target up field.   He is extremely focused upon his football and has been afforded further opportunity to make a case for the State team”.

Yusef Kassem:- blocks opponents in the Clontarf game.

Reid Polak

“An extremely consistent performer throughout the carnival; particularly as a Centre Half back and as a key forward, demonstrating his versatility and football knowledge.  His strengths include his athleticism, strong marking from a front position and good decision making.   Rewarded with an opportunity in the State side”.

Reid Polak:- Gets his kick away despite late attention.
