VALE Frank Hardingham & Syd Simeon
FRANK HARDINGHAM
The Club lost one of it's longest-serving volunteers and keen follower with the recent passing of Frank Hardingham.
Frank joined the Club way back in 1948 in the old WACA days. Since then he, together with his wife Maureen, children Val, Neville and Allan, and extended family have been significant contributors to the Club. One of his most memorable involvements was with the entertainment group "The Crickets". Frank, his brother Laurie, Bob Coleman and George Spalding performed on many occasions at Club functions to rapturous applause from everyone present. Their final performance was in 1992.
Frank was also involved in administrative duties with Maureen. For many years they would count the takings following a home match day, preparing them for banking. Other involvements included helping with mailouts, fund-raising activities, preparing sandwiches for players and afternoon teas for the Presidents Lounge. Basically whenever the Club needed a hand Frank and Maureen were there. They even provided accommodation for players from time to time.
One of Frank's more recent duties occurred on Anzac Day games when he and his brother George laid wreathes and tossed the coin at ceremonies prior to the League matches.
The Club has been a much better place over the years thanks to the contributions and support of Frank Hardingham - a quiet achiever who always had the Club at heart.
SYD SIMEON
The Club was saddened to learn of the passing on 15th May of former player SYD SIMEON. Syd came through the Thirds and Reserves in the 1960's, before playing eight League matches in 1964.
He was a real character and had an impact on everyone who knew him.
Although not a regular League player he did his bit in developing the Club into a force, culminating in our triple Premierships from 1966.
Syd continued to follow the Club, particularly his brother-in-law Pat Dalton. Later in life West Coast Eagle Chris Waterman became his son-in-law.
Sincere condolences are extended to Syd's family. He will be long remembered by all who knew him.
