Steel Blue Oval
Swan Districts vs Perth Game Preview
SWAN DISTRICTS VS PERTH
(NAIDOC WEEK)
GAME PREVIEW
Steel Blue Oval - Saturday 6 July 2013
By Andrew Owen
This weekend Perth travel to Steel Blue Oval to take on Swan Districts. It should be an exciting day of football and we look forward to seeing as many Demon supporters down there as possible. With Swan Districts generously reducing the entry fee to $10, why would you be any where else?
Please note After Match Presenations will be held in the Presidents Lounge at Brownes Stadium. Bar open from 5.30pm, awards from 6.30pm.
Colts 9:05am
Last week Perth defeated South Fremantle by 32-points to keep their hopes of a top four finish alive, while Swan Districts went down to West Perth by 82-points.
These two teams have both beaten each other this year with Swans winning the first encounter at Steel Blue Oval by 39-points and the Demons winning at Brownes Stadium by 12-points in the return fixture.
Perth has closed the gap to now sit only one game outside the top four. A win over Swan Districts who are ninth on the table will have them equal on points with the looser of the Subiaco and East Fremantle game.
Reserves 11:35am
The reserves suffered their third loss of the season last week as they went down to South Fremantle by four points, while Swan Districts were able to defeat West Perth by 11-points.
The Demons have won both encounters against Swans this year by 23-points in the first game at Steel Blue Oval and by 31-points in the return fixture at Brownes Stadium.
Perth is still first on the ladder but is now only percentage ahead of East Perth who also have nine wins this season. Swans are fifth on the table, one game out of the top four and will be looking to pile the pressure on the Demons, to keep their season alive.
League 2:05pm
Perth won consecutive matches for the first time since the opening rounds of the season, when they defeated South Fremantle by 10-points last week.
Swan Districts lost a nail bitter against West Perth last week, going down by 3-points. This was the Swans fifth loss at home this year.
Both the previous two fixtures involving these teams this season have gone down to the wire. A late Christian Eyres goal sealed a 2-point win for the Demons in round four, while two late goals to Brett Robinson ensured the Swans won by 4-points in round 11.
Perth is currently fourth on the ladder, a game clear of Swan Districts who are fifth. A win by the Demons would see them move up to third on the table and be two games clear of fifth position.
