Perth Football Club announce pathway in Women’s Football
The Perth Football Club are proud to announce a pathway for women’s football in our district.
The club has appointed Michele Burton as Women’s Football Manager who in conjunction with the PFC Women’s Working Group, will drive the new frontier of our club.
Perth is committed to growing and developing female footballers with a plan to have a WAFLW League side by 2026.
“It’s a really exciting time for female football and I’m looking forward to ensuring we provide a pathway for the girls in our zone, that replicates what we currently have in place for the boys.” Burton Said
The process is well underway with the immediate vision and implementation of youth and talent pathways. Our first step in this pathway is the partnership with Penhros College, working across years 7-12 in the IGSSA competition.
Additionally, the club will be conducting Talent Academy and School Holiday Clinics with the prospect to enter a Rogers Cup team in 2023.
Female football has enjoyed rapid growth in our zone though some amazing work done by the community clubs. They have successfully managed to get the message out that playing footy is a great way to get fit, make friends and have fun in a friendly and supported environment
The Perth district continues to grow with youth female football and through key strategic partnerships, a clear pathway will be given so female footballers can reach their dreams to play at the highest level.
Perth CEO, Russ Clark spoke about the exciting addition coming to the football club.
“The introduction of Women’s Football to the Perth Football Talent pathway is a natural progression for the Club to coincide with the redevelopment of the PFC facilities. The new facility will see a dedicated changeroom for the Perth Football Club Women’s program with full access to the education room, gymnasium and medical requirements required for the development of female football. It is a very exciting time to be involved in women’s football.”
