PERTH ENTER ROGERS CUP COMPETITION
PERTH ENTER ROGERS CUP COMPETITION
The Perth Football Club is delighted to announce that we have successfully bid to enter a team in the Rogers Cup for season 2023 after the West Australian Football Commission endorsed the bid on Tuesday night.
Rogers Cup is considered the lead talent development competition for young female football players in WA and nurtures aspiring AFLW players to grow their skills and take their football to the next level.
The Club increased the planning for a female team in the Rogers Cup two years ago when the “zero to halo” strategy, led by Directors Kelly Townson and Carolyn Hall, was developed.
Perth Football Club partnered with Penrhos College in 2021 to deliver a female football program at the College and again in 2022 to assist coaching the Penrhos College teams in the IGSSA competition.
In 2022 the first PFC Female Academy was formed, coached by Swan Districts Premiership Player Gavin Outridge with the culmination of playing 3 games against other WAFLW development Academies, Subiaco, West Perth and east Perth in October.
Club President Bob Shields said “It has taken three years of hard work by a dedicated team, but the Perth Football Club is excited to be invited into the Rogers Cup competition in 2023. The next step is the Perth WAFLW team”.
Any girls interested in trialing for a position in the squad should email their details to Michele Burton on mburton@perthfc.com.au.
Players must be aged 15 – 18 years.
