2026 Season Thank You
As we see all teams’ seasons come to an end, as well as their respective awards nights, we want to say THANK YOU.
The Perth Football Club extends a heartfelt thank you to our members, supporters, sponsors, staff, volunteers, coaches and players for making 2026 another important year in the history of our club.
To our supporters, you are the lifeblood of this football club.
We firmly believe we have the largest and best supporter base in the WAFL, and once again you showed exactly why. From the roar at Mineral Resources Park to the wall of Red & Black on the road, you continued to turn up, make your voices heard and create an atmosphere that our players could feel.
2026 was a year of continued progress across every level of the Perth Football Club.
Our WAFL League side finished third on the ladder with an 11-7 record, securing back-to-back finals appearances for the first time since 1997. After another competitive home-and-away campaign, the Demons earned a double chance before falling to Claremont by 17 points in the Qualifying Final.
The season continued the following week with a historic first.
For the first time, Mineral Resources Park hosted a Perth Football Club WAFL home final. With the Red & Black faithful packing out Lathlain, our League side faced East Perth in a sudden-death Semi Final. In a thrilling contest, the Demons fought until the final siren before falling just two points short.
While the result was heartbreaking, the season represented another significant step forward for our senior men’s program. Back-to-back finals campaigns have built on the momentum of 2025 and continued to establish a strong foundation for the future.
Our Reserves also secured back-to-back finals appearances, highlighting the depth of our senior program and the strength of the pathway into League football.
Across the 2026 WAFL season, 11 players made their League debuts for the Perth Football Club, providing opportunities for new faces to establish themselves at WAFL level and reinforcing our commitment to developing talent from within and bringing players through our system.
The season also saw two of our senior players reach significant milestones, with Matthew Taylor and Corey Byrne both reaching 150 League games and being recognised with Perth Football Club Life Membership. Two outstanding achievements for players who have given so much to the Red & Black.
Our WAFLW program took another significant step forward in just its second season.
After recording three wins in our inaugural campaign in 2025, the Demons more than doubled that tally in 2026, finishing the home-and-away season with eight wins and a draw. The improvement saw Perth finish fifth on the ladder, narrowly missing out on a place in the finals.
While missing September by such a small margin was disappointing, finishing fifth in only our second WAFLW season demonstrated just how quickly this program is developing.
Perhaps the greatest reflection of that development came through the number of opportunities created for our players. 16 players made their WAFLW debuts in 2026, including six players who stepped up from our Rogers Cup program.
The season also saw two of our WAFLW players earn opportunities at the highest level.
Poppy Stockwell was selected by the Hawthorn as an AFLW injury replacement player during the season after an outstanding start to her campaign, while Isabella Shannon was selected by the West Coast Eagles as an AFLW injury replacement player at the conclusion of the WAFLW season.
Both opportunities are a tremendous reflection of the quality of our WAFLW program and the environment being created for our players to develop and take the next step.
Our Colts and Rogers Cup programs continued to play an equally important role in building the future of the Perth Football Club.
Our Colts provided another important development season for the next generation of Demons, while our Rogers Cup program continued to give young female players the opportunity to develop within a senior football environment.
The connection between our pathways was particularly evident throughout the year, with six Rogers Cup players making their WAFLW League debuts and young players across our Colts and Futures squads earning recognition at State level.
In our Men’s programs, the Perth Football Club was represented by eight State players across the 16s and 18s programs through our Colts and Futures pathways, while two of our senior men’s players represented Western Australia at senior State level.
Across our Women’s football program, we had eight State representatives between the 16s, 18s and senior levels, another strong indication of the talent being developed within the Red & Black.
These opportunities are exactly what our football pathways are built to provide: a clear journey from our youngest players through to senior football and, ultimately, opportunities at the highest level.
Our five Best & Fairest winners were also recognised for their outstanding seasons:
WAFL League – Charlie Constable
WAFLW – Isabella Shannon
Reserves – Noah Murray
Colts – Fynn Tomasini
Rogers Cup – Swayde Follows
Congratulations to each of our winners, and to every player who contributed to their respective teams throughout the season.
To our coaches and football department, thank you for the countless hours, preparation and commitment that goes into creating an environment where our players can perform and develop.
To our sponsors and commercial partners, thank you for your continued belief in the Perth Football Club. Your support allows us to invest in our football programs, facilities, players and pathways, and plays a vital role in building the future of this club.
To our staff and volunteers, thank you for everything you do, often behind the scenes, to make this football club what it is. From match days and events to administration, football operations, media, community programs and everything in between, your contribution does not go unnoticed.
And to our members and supporters, thank you for standing with us through every win, every loss, every close finish and every big moment of 2026.
This year has shown that the Perth Football Club is building from the ground up.
