WA State Draft Combine invitation

Perth Football Club forward Kane Johnston has been rewarded for his outstanding 2026 campaign, receiving an invitation to the WA State Draft Combine as one of just two mature aged players selected.

The invitation is recognition of Johnston’s consistent performances and development over a number of seasons at Lathlain, placing him firmly on the radar of AFL recruiters ahead of this year’s national and rookie drafts.

After joining the Demons from the club’s Colts program, Johnston has steadily established himself as a key member of Perth’s senior side. Renowned for his work rate, toughness and outstanding athleticism, the 23 year old has continued to elevate his game in 2026 and now has the opportunity to showcase his athletic ability in front of AFL clubs.

The WA State Draft Combine provides leading draft prospects with the chance to complete a series of physical and athletic tests, while also meeting with AFL recruiters as clubs finalise their draft assessments. AFLW National Draft Combine invitation

Perth Football Club’s Mia Carlshausen has taken another major step towards an AFLW career, earning an invitation to the 2026 Telstra AFLW Draft Combine in Melbourne.

Carlshausen is one of just three Western Australian players to receive an invitation to the national combine, cementing her place among the state’s leading AFLW draft prospects.

The talented defender has been part of Perth Football Club’s female pathway since its inception. Carlshausen represented the Demons in the club’s inaugural Rogers Cup side before progressing into Perth’s inaugural WAFLW team, where she has developed into one of the competition’s most dependable and composed players.

Renowned for her clean ball use, decision making and ability to generate attacking play from half back, Carlshausen has consistently been among Perth’s most reliable performers. In the closing rounds of the 2026 WAFLW season, she also showcased her versatility with a move forward, providing an attacking spark and hitting the scoreboard to further demonstrate her football IQ and adaptability.

The Telstra AFLW Draft Combine brings together the nation’s top draft prospects for a series of athletic assessments, interviews and education sessions in front of AFLW clubs ahead of the 2026 AFLW Draft.
