Leading the Way: Celebrating Women in Coaching at Perth Football Club
As we celebrate Women in Coaching Month, Perth Football Club is proud to recognise the talented women helping shape the future of football across every level of our female pathway.
From our WAFLW side through to the Rogers Cup and Female Development Squad, women are leading, mentoring and inspiring the next generation of Demons. Their passion, knowledge and leadership continue to strengthen our football program both on and off the field.
Leading the WAFLW program is Head Coach Steph Walding. Walding arrived at Perth following an outstanding coaching résumé that includes guiding East Fremantle to the 2023 WAFLW Premiership, while also leading the Perth Football League Women’s State Team in consecutive years. Known for her leadership and tactical understanding, Steph continues to drive a high-performance environment where players are encouraged to grow.
Supporting Steph are Emma O’Driscoll and Jaide Britton, whose current AFLW experience adds another valuable dimension to the program. O’Driscoll, a Fremantle Dockers defender, works with the backs, while West Coast Eagles midfielder Britton leads the midfield group. Both bring elite-level standards, first-hand knowledge of the modern game and invaluable insight into what it takes to compete at the highest level, helping bridge the gap between WAFLW and AFLW for our players.
Our Rogers Cup program is led by Head Coach Tiffany Ferguson-Blight, whose coaching philosophy centres on building confident, capable and resilient athletes. Alongside her role at Perth, Tiffany is also a Development Coach with the West Coast Eagles AFLW program and has coached across community, WAFLW and State Academy pathways.
Tiffany is supported by Natalie Limbert as Backs Coach and Jessica Rentsch as Development Coach, with the trio playing a vital role in preparing emerging players for the transition into senior football.
Leading our Female Development Squad is WAFLW Co-Captain Holly Britton, who has taken on the role of Head Coach while continuing her playing career. Her involvement reflects Perth Football Club’s commitment to developing future coaches from within the playing ranks, while giving young footballers the opportunity to learn from a current senior leader.
The impact of women in coaching extends well beyond match day. They create positive environments, build confidence, develop skills and inspire players to reach their potential. Their leadership helps shape not only better footballers, but better people.
Perth Football Club is proud to have women leading across every stage of our female football pathway. Their contribution is invaluable, and their presence continues to pave the way for future generations of coaches.
