Unveiling Our 2025 NAIDOC Guernseys – A Celebration of Culture, Strength and Community

The Perth Football Club is proud to unveil our 2025 NAIDOC Round guernseys, to be worn by all five of our teams across the next two rounds in honour of NAIDOC Week. In a powerful show of unity and respect, we will also adopt the name Boorloo Football Club, the Noongar name for Perth, during this time to acknowledge and celebrate the traditional custodians of the land on which we play.

Designed by Rickesha Burdett, a talented Noongar artist and proud member of our community, the guernseys are rich with meaning and cultural symbolism that reflect both the spirit of our club and the enduring strength of First Nations people.

The Story Behind the Artwork
The front of the guernsey features community circles that represent both our men’s and women’s teams, highlighting the growing strength and presence of women’s football at Boorloo FC, along with our already established Mens program. Digging sticks and spears, traditional Aboriginal tools, are incorporated to symbolise strength, protection, and ceremony, values that deeply align with the game of football and the way we support one another on and off the field.

On the back of the guernsey, Rickesha has woven in the footprints of the kangaroo, a prominent native animal in Western Australia and one of great significance in Aboriginal culture. Surrounding these tracks are more community symbols, again representing both our men’s and women’s players, and our one club motto at Boorloo FC.

A Whole-Club Commitment
What makes this year’s celebration especially meaningful is that every team – League, Reserves, Colts, Rogers Cup, and WAFLW – will proudly wear the NAIDOC guernsey. It is a united front, not only in celebration of culture and tradition, but also in our commitment to listening, learning, and growing together.

By adopting the Boorloo Football Club name during this period, we pay tribute to the Noongar people, the Traditional Owners of the south-west of Western Australia, and their enduring connection to land, community, and culture.

As a club, we are committed to reconciliation, respect, and creating a culturally safe and inclusive environment for all. This initiative, led by our Indigenous Engagement team and supported across all levels of the club, is a meaningful step forward on that journey.

We invite all members, supporters, and the broader community to join us in celebrating NAIDOC Week, recognising the rich history and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and standing together under the banner of Boorloo Football Club.
