The Perth Football Club is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Peter Bosustow, one of our most electrifying and beloved players, who lost his battle with cancer at the age of 67.
Club President Adrian Barich paid tribute to Peter, describing him as a legendary figure in Australian Rules Football who left an indelible mark on the game.

“Affectionately known as ‘The Buzz’, Peter thrilled fans with his exhilarating style, spectacular high-flying marks, fierce tackling, and unmistakable flair,” Mr Barich said.

“At both the Perth Football Club and Carlton, Peter’s career was defined by brilliance and passion. He was a premiership player at both clubs and a celebrated personality in the football community.

“Beyond the goals and the marks, Peter was larger than life, a true football genius whose charisma lit up every field he played on.

“Today, we honour Peter Bosustow not just for his remarkable achievements, but for the joy and excitement he brought to fans across the country. Our heartfelt condolences go to his family Shelley, Brooke, and Brent, as well as to his many friends and the wider football community.

“Peter was truly one of a kind. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.”

Peter Bosustow played 141 games for Perth, kicking 378 goals, and was named on a half-forward flank in Perth’s ‘Team of the Century.’ He also represented Western Australia in eight state games, kicking 17 goals, and was recently inducted into the Perth Football Club Hall of Fame.

At Carlton, he was a key member of the 1981 and 1982 premiership teams, leading the club’s goalkicking in 1981 with 59 goals and famously claiming both the league’s Goal of the Year and Mark of the Year awards.

Football was in Peter’s blood, he proudly followed in the footsteps of his father, Bob Bosustow, a respected defender who played 59 games for Perth and 20 games for Carlton in the 1950s.
