Match Report: Perth Football Club WAFL vs West Coast
Round 14, WAFL League | July 12, 2026
Perth produced a commanding performance on Sunday afternoon, defeating West Coast by 62 points at Mineral Resources Park, bouncing back from last weeks tough loss.
The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, winning the ball at the source and using it efficiently to pile on scoreboard pressure. Their dominance around stoppages and relentless work rate across all four quarters ensured they never allowed West Coast a way back into the game.
One of the biggest positives from the afternoon was the return of Blake Schlensog, who made an immediate impact in his first League appearance of the season. Schlensog kicked Perth’s opening two goals and provided a strong aerial presence inside 50, drawing plenty of attention from the Eagles’ defence. His return opened the door for Aaron Clarke, who capitalised on the extra space to finish with a brilliant six-goal haul in a dangerous display close to goal.
The midfield was once again led superbly by Corey Byrne, who was outstanding with 31 disposals, 8 inside 50s and a goal. Byrne continually drove the Demons forward, setting the tone around the stoppages and providing clean ball movement throughout the afternoon. Brandan Parfitt (33 disposals, 8 inside 50s) and Charlie Constable (39 disposals, 8 marks) were equally influential, helping Perth control possession and territory for much of the contest.
Perth’s defence was as reliable as ever, Charlie Dean (20 disposals, 10 marks) and Connor Sing (13 disposals, 5 marks) working hard to shut down their matchups as our last line of defence, while Baxter Philip (25 disposals and 9 marks) and Oscar Hine-Baston (16 disposals, 6 marks) provided run out of half back, consistently repelling West Coast’s forward entries and transitioning the ball with composure.
In the ruck, Zac Harding battled strongly all afternoon, finishing with 23 hit outs while taking several important contested marks around the ground. His physical presence and follow up efforts gave Perth’s midfield first use and helped the Demons maintain control throughout the game. Joshua Edwards also made a valuable contribution, adding 12 hit outs and two goals to round out another strong team performance.
It was another complete performance from Perth, with contributions right across the ground highlighting the depth and balance of the side. The Demons’ pressure, ball movement and willingness to work for one another were on full display as they recorded another convincing victory.
Next up: Perth host East Fremantle next week for the last NAIDOC round of the year.
