Perth Football Club fell agonisingly short at Sullivan Logistics Stadium on Saturday, going down to Subiaco by just one point in a thrilling contest.
The Demons controlled much of the afternoon, leading at every change after opening with a strong first quarter and maintaining their advantage through to the final break. However, a late surge from the Lions saw the home side steal the lead in the dying stages, with Perth unable to find one final score before the siren.
Brandan Parfitt was outstanding and deservedly named Best on Ground, finishing with 29 disposals, five marks, four tackles, 10 inside 50s and a goal in another commanding midfield performance.
The midfield battled hard all day, with Zac Harding (24 hit outs) and Joshua Edwards (22 hit outs) giving Perth first use around the stoppages, while Corey Byrne (21 disposals) and Austin Davis (29 disposals) were influential around the contest. Across half back, Oscar Hine-Baston continued his consistent season with 26 disposals, helping launch countless attacking chains from defence.
