Match Report: Perth Football Club WAFL vs Swan Districts

Perth produced a strong four quarter performance to defeat Swan Districts by 19 points at Mineral Resources Park on Saturday.

The Demons came out firing, dominating the opening term to lead by 32 points at quarter time after piling on 6.2 to Swan Districts’ 1.0. The Swans responded in the second, kicking four goals to Perth’s two to bring the margin back to 15 points at the main break.

Perth regained control after half time, adding 3.2 to 3.3 in the third before finishing the game strongly with five goals in the final term to secure the 14.10 (94) to 11.9 (75) victory.

Austin Davis was the standout performer, earning Best on Ground honours as well as being named Rixx’s WAFL League Player of the Round. The midfielder was everywhere with 32 disposals, nine marks and two goals, while also registering four inside 50s.

Corey Byrne was another major contributor through the midfield, finishing with 27 disposals, seven marks seven inside 50s and a goal of his own, while Matthew Taylor continued his consistent season with 21 touches and three tackles.

The Demons’ backline was again impressive, with Baxter Philip collecting 20 disposals and eight marks, Oscar Hine-Baston picking up 20 touches and Charlie Dean finishing with 19 disposals and eight marks.

Brandan Parfitt continued to provide plenty of drive, finishing with 17 disposals, five marks and nine inside 50s, while William Tilbee brought plenty of pressure with 14 disposals and nine tackles.

Up forward, Aaron Clarke found his scoring touch in a big way, booting five goals from 10 disposals, while Jack Kluske added two majors. Kane Johnston also hit the scoreboard with a goal, while Lochlan Paton contributed a goal and two behinds.

The 19 point victory continues Perth’s strong finish to the season as the Demons look to build momentum heading into the final round against West Perth this week.
