Match Report: Perth Football Club WAFL vs South Fremantle Bulldogs

Round 2, WAFL League | April 11, 2026

It was a tough afternoon for us in Round 2, with South Fremantle getting the game on their terms early and carrying that momentum for most of the day.

Despite the result, there were a few strong individual performances. Charlie Constable led all comers with 34 disposals, while Matthew Taylor (31) and Austin Davis (30) continued to work hard around the contest and provide drive through the midfield.

Down back, Charlie Dean was outstanding and deservedly recognised as our Trademark Player. Playing a key role in defence, he competed strongly in the air and stood up in one-on-one contests, doing everything he could to repel repeated forward entries.

Across the ground, the effort was there in patches. We laid 60 tackles for the game, showing a willingness to apply pressure, and at times were able to match it in the contest. There were also moments where we competed well aerially, particularly in defence, but we weren’t able to sustain it consistently enough across four quarters.

With 344 disposals, we found plenty of the ball, but struggled to turn that into scoreboard impact, finishing with five goals. South Fremantle were cleaner with their opportunities and made us pay going inside 50.

It’s a result that highlights areas to improve, particularly around consistency and making the most of our chances.

Next up: We’ll look to bounce back in Round 3 when we take on Peel Thunder at Lane Group Stadium.
