Match Report: Perth Football Club WAFL vs West Perth

Round 7, WAFL League | May 23, 2026

It was a dominant afternoon from our WAFL League side on Saturday at Mineral Resources Park, producing a commanding 78 point win over West Perth.

From the outset, the boys brought strong pressure and intensity around the contest, controlling the game through the midfield and capitalising on opportunities going forward in one of the side’s most complete performances of the season.

Leading the charge was Corey Byrne, who was outstanding through the middle with a massive 37 disposals and 6 inside 50s, driving the ball forward and setting the tone around stoppages. He was well supported by Charlie Constable, who continued his strong form with 35 disposals and a game high 11 inside 50s, while Brandan Parfitt (26 disposals) and Matthew Taylor (17) also contributed strongly in his 150th game.

Up forward, the side looked dangerous throughout the day. Lochlan Paton delivered a brilliant performance inside 50, finishing with 5 goals and proving a constant threat both aerially and at ground level. Kane Johnston added 4 goals of his own, while Jack Kluske and Aaron Clarke each finished with 3 majors in a highly effective team display up forward.

Defensively, the group remained composed and organised behind the ball. Charlie Dean was strong aerially with 11 marks to go with his 15 disposals, while Elijah Scoble and William Tilbee provided important rebound and composure coming out of defence.

The pressure around the ball was another standout, with the side laying 46 tackles and consistently forcing turnovers. Archer Gardiner applied strong defensive pressure with 6 tackles, while several others contributed across the ground in a strong team performance.

Overall, it was a polished and high energy display, with the boys controlling the game for all four quarters and earning an important percentage boosting win.

Next up: We take on Swan Districts at Steel Blue Oval on Saturday, May 30.
