Match Report: Perth Football Club WAFL vs Subiaco

Round 9, WAFL League | June 6, 2026

Perth bounced back into their strong run of mid season form on Saturday, recording a hard fought 20 point victory over Subiaco at Mineral Resources Park.

The Demons entered the final quarter holding a narrow five point advantage, but produced a powerful finish when it mattered most. Perth kicked 5.1 in the final term to Subiaco’s 2.4, running out 20 point winners after a composed and clinical final quarter.

While the Lions generated more scoring opportunities throughout the afternoon, Perth made the most of its chances in front of goal. The Demons converted at an impressive 80 per cent accuracy, compared to Subiaco’s 35 per cent, with that efficiency proving decisive.

Leading the way was Brandan Parfitt, who delivered a best on ground performance. The midfielder amassed 37 disposals, 7 inside 50s and 2 goals, consistently driving Perth forward and impacting the game both around the contest and on the scoreboard.

He was well supported by Charlie Constable, who collected 29 disposals and 4 inside 50s, while Matthew Taylor continued his strong season with 23 disposals. Across half back, Baxter Philip worked tirelessly, finishing with 19 disposals and a game high 12 marks, helping Perth control possession and launch attacks from defence.

The ruck combination of Zac Harding and Joshua Edwards continues to provide a strong foundation for the side. The pair combined for 53 hit-outs, with Harding finishing with 29 and Edwards contributing 24. Edwards also hit the scoreboard with a goal and laid a game high 8 tackles, bringing his trademark physicality around the contest.

Up forward, Aaron Clarke was a constant threat with 3 goals, while Kane Johnston and Parfitt added 2 majors apiece. Perth’s ability to spread the scoring load was a key factor in wearing down the Lions across four quarters.

Defensively, the Demons stood up when required, with Charlie Dean contributing 14 disposals and 10 marks, while William Tilbee added 18 disposals and a crucial fourth quarter goal, as Perth controlled territory throughout the afternoon.

After a tightly contested first three quarters, Perth’s composure, efficiency, and ability to finish strongly proved the difference, securing an important victory and continuing the club’s positive momentum through the middle stages of the season.

Next up: Perth travels to Revo Fitness Stadium on Saturday, June 13 to take on Claremont.
