Match Report: Perth Football Club WAFLW vs Claremont

Round 15, WAFLW | July 11, 2026

Perth suffered a heartbreaking three point loss to Claremont on Saturday afternoon at Mineral Resources Park, with the visitors snatching victory after kicking two late goals despite the Demons controlling much of the contest.

For the majority of the afternoon, Perth looked the better side. The Demons won plenty of the football, controlled territory and created repeated scoring opportunities, but Claremont’s late surge proved enough to steal the result in the dying stages.

Isla Baldwin was deservedly recognised as Perth’s Player of the Match, producing another tireless performance through the midfield with 12 disposals, 8 tackles and strong two way running to help set the standard around the contest.

Alongside her, Amy Trindade was outstanding, finishing with 19 disposals, a game high 9 tackles and a goal. Isabella Shannon also continued her outstanding season, collecting 22 disposals, 5 tackles, 4 inside 50s and three hit-outs as she impacted all areas of the ground.

The Demons’ pressure was a feature all day, with Alyssa Smogavec laying 8 tackles to go with her 17 disposals, while Jessica Green added 15 disposals and 7 tackles in another determined performance. Natalie House provided a strong aerial target with 11 disposals, 6 marks and a goal, while Molly Warne battled hard in the ruck with 23 hit-outs.

There was also a special moment for the Demons, with 15-year-old Monet Cannon announcing herself in League football by kicking a goal on debut. It was a memorable first appearance and a glimpse of an exciting future ahead.

Although the result was a difficult one to take after leading for much of the day, Perth can take confidence from another competitive performance against one of the competition’s strongest sides. The Demons’ ability to control the game for long periods and their relentless pressure around the contest continues to show they can match it with the best teams in the league.

Next up: The Demons will look to bounce back next weekend against the Falcons in Joondalup.
