Match Report: Perth Football Club WAFLW vs East Perth
Round 6, WAFLW | May 1, 2026
It was a strong four quarter performance from our WAFLW side on Sunday, securing an important win over East Perth at Mineral Resources Park.
The girls brought great pressure and intensity from the outset, controlling the contest around the ball and creating consistent opportunities going forward. After a number of tough battles in recent weeks, it was a rewarding result for the group.
Leading the way was Isabella Shannon, who was outstanding and deservedly named Player of the Match. Shannon finished with a game high 29 disposals, along with 5 inside 50s and 4 tackles, providing class and drive through the midfield all afternoon.
She was well supported by Holly Britton (22 disposals), Isla Baldwin (20 disposals, 5 tackles, 5 inside 50s), and Alyssa Smogavec (20 disposals, 5 tackles), with the midfield group working hard to win territory and keep the pressure on East Perth.
Up forward, Poppy Stockwell was dangerous around goal, finishing with 3 goals and 4 behinds in a lively performance. Natalie House added 2 goals, while Taya Strickland also hit the scoreboard with 2 majors to help maintain scoreboard pressure throughout the game.
Defensively, the effort and pressure across the ground were a major factor in the result. Caitlyn Edwards laid a game-high 8 tackles, while the side consistently applied pressure to limit East Perth’s ball movement. In the ruck, Molly Warne competed strongly all day, finishing with 40 hitouts to give our midfielders first use around stoppages.
Overall, it was a well rounded team performance built on effort, pressure, and composure across four quarters, with strong contributions right across the ground.
Next up: Following the State Game bye, we return to Mineral Resources Park on Saturday, May 23 to take on West Perth.
