Round 7, WAFLW | May 23, 2026
It was a huge night for our WAFLW side on Saturday under lights at Mineral Resources Park, coming away with a strong win over West Perth in an impressive four quarter performance.
The girls brought energy and pressure from the opening bounce, controlling the game around the contest and making the most of their opportunities going forward.
The star of the night was undoubtedly Poppy Stockwell, who delivered a dominant performance up forward and was deservedly named Player of the Match after finishing with a remarkable 7 goals. Stockwell looked dangerous every time the ball went inside 50, providing a constant target and capitalising on her chances in a match winning display.
Through the midfield, Isabella Shannon continued her outstanding season with 26 disposals, 5 inside 50s, and a goal, while Isla Baldwin (18 disposals, 5 tackles) and Amy Trindade (14 disposals, 5 tackles) worked hard around the contest to keep the pressure on West Perth.
Defensively, the group was just as impressive. Addison Opalinski collected 17 disposals and provided strong rebound from the back half, while Alyssa Smogavec applied great pressure with 6 tackles. Across the ground, the team’s defensive intent was a major factor, laying 47 tackles for the match.
In the ruck, Molly Warne gave the midfield first use all night, finishing with 37 hitouts in another strong performance around stoppages.
Overall, it was one of the side’s most complete performances of the season so far, built on pressure, teamwork, and efficiency going forward.
