Article in Local Newspaper: 7th September 2013
After a nervous wait, Saturday morning arrived and off to Wonthella we went along with loyal supporters and extras to take on Rovers in the Grand Final.
We won the toss and kicked with the strong breeze and held a 21 point lead at quarter time despite squandering several opportunities. The second quarter we started well kicking the first 2 goals and looked well in control of the game until Rovers kicked a goal against the run of play, followed by another 3 which cut the margin back to a 10 point lead at half time. After a few quiet words at half time we were back in gear in the third quarter and kicked 3 goals to 1 to hold a 25 point lead at three quarter time. This was by no means a match winning lead and we had to kick into the breeze in the last quarter. To the boys credit, they kept their heads and played disciplined football all the way to the final siren and even out scored Rovers into the wind. A tremendous result!
Congratulations and thanks for your commitment and effort throughout the year, it has been a pleasure to coach you all.
