MEDIA RELEASE: WINNERS AT THE 2016 ICAA CONFRENCE (Congratulations Allan Stiles)

The 2016 Independent Cinemas Association of Australia (ICAA) 21st annual Conference embracing Innovation and best practice in the independent cinema experience is being held at the Palace Cinema Como, Melbourne.

The Gala Dinner sponsored by Twentieth Century Fox at Ormond Hall last night awarded the ICAA Lifetime Achievement Award to Allan Stiles and The CEO Award for Outstanding Service to Independent Cinema to Denis Parkes.
Allan Stiles was born into the cinema business, third generation with both his mother (Irene) and father (Arthur) heavily involved in this exciting industry. “As a boy I used to be at the cinema or drive-in with my father or making a nuisance of myself while my mother worked in the Box Office (Grand Cinemas Cygnet).” Says Allan. Former Perth Football Club player and now Managing Director of Grand Cinemas with seven sites in WA.

Denis Parkes is proud owner and hands on manager of The Picture Show Man theatre in Merimbula NSW a modern two screen complex. Denis is a long standing member of ICAA and is a past president. Denis was awarded the ICAA Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008 and very proud to now be the recipient of the CEO Award for Outstanding Service to Independent Cinema. Denis was the head of the committee to establish the Mark Sarfaty Cinema and Performing Arts Benevolent Fund, working tirelessly through red-tape for 5 years to get charity status for the fund.
