Round 18 Preview Perth vs Peel Thunder
After having a bye last weekend Perth now turns its attention to this week’s opponents, Peel Thunder. This match is the Demons country game and will be played in Cunderdin.
Last time out a resilient and determined Perth team held on to defeat Subiaco by 15-points while Peel who had ten AFL listed players in their side beat East Fremantle by 43 points.
With the recent injuries to Michael Barlow and Haydn Ballantyne, Matt deBoer (29 possessions, three marks, 12 tackles, three I50’s), Darcy Tucker (27 disposals, four marks, six tackles) and Josh DeLuca (23 possessions, three tackles, five I50’s, one goal) are all a chance to be included in the Dockers team that will play the Gold Coast this Saturday at Metricon Stadium.
In the reserves the Demons had ten scoring shots to one in the last quarter against the Lions but could not kick accurately and the game ended in a draw while the Thunder lost by 36-points against the Sharks.
Jacob Payne (32 disposals, seven marks, six I50’s) continued to push his case for a league game as did Kurtis Chester (25 possessions, five marks, four tackles) and Fraser Millar, (24 disposals , seven marks, three tackles, three I50’s). Cody Ninyette rewarded the coaching group’s faith after being elevated from the colt’s team and finished the match with three goals.
In the colts Perth defeated Subiaco by 45-points while an inaccurate Peel lost by 10-points to East Fremantle.
As mentioned above the league match this weekend will be played at Cunderdin with the game starting at 2:15pm. The other grades will be playing at Lathlain Park with the reserves starting at the earlier time of 9:00am, followed by the colts at 11:45am.
