Round 20 Preview Perth vs South Fremantle
Perth travel to Carnarvon this week to take on second placed South Fremantle.
Last week the Demons lost by 46-points to West Perth with the Falcons clinical ball movement proving the difference. Michael Sinclair was one of Perth’s better performers collecting 36 possessions and 13 marks across the half back line.
With Blaine Johnson, Mason Shaw and Ben Saunders combining for eight of their teams 14 goals, the Bulldogs bucked the trend of recent Fremantle derbies that have been won by the visiting team, with a 30-point win over East Fremantle at home.
In the reserves the Demons kicked seven goals to two in the last quarter to defeat West Perth by 28 points.
Tarran Etto (27 disposals, four marks), Bradley Keast (27, five marks, four I50’s, one goal), Fraser Millar (25, four marks), Jacob Payne (25, five marks, two goals), Brett Wolfenden (24, five marks, five tackles, seven I50’s, one goal), Marshall Jones (17, ten marks, five goals) and Stephen Mills (13, seven marks) all did their chances of a league call up no harm with strong performances.
South Fremantle recorded a one goal victory over the Sharks with Noah Strom (14 possessions, three marks, seven tackles, 24 hitouts), Dylan Main (35, ten marks, five tackles, six I50’s, one goal) and Matthew Ah Siu (28, four marks, three tackles, four I50’s) all impressing.
In the colts Perth defeated the Falcons by 17-points while the Bulldogs won by 45-points against East Fremantle. This match will be a top of the table encounter. If the Demons win they will go two games clear where as if South Fremantle wins they will go top on percentage.
As mentioned above the league match this weekend will be played at Carnarvon with the game starting at 2:15pm. The other grades will be playing at Fremantle Community Bank Oval with the reserves starting at 11:30am, followed by the colts at the later time of 2:15pm.
