Round 21 Preview Perth vs East Fremantle
After playing two country games and being away from home for five weeks Perth return to Lathlain Park this Saturday to take on East Fremantle.
Last week against the Bulldogs up in Carnarvon the Demons kicked six straight goals in the second quarter to lead at half time by 25 points.
South Fremantle came out after half time determined to bring the margin back and heading into the last quarter were only one-point behind. The Bulldogs overran Perth in the last quarter, kicking seven goals to the Demons one to win by 37 points.
Mason Shaw was the most dominant forward on the ground finishing with five goals and 10 marks for South Fremantle, while for Perth Michael Sinclair was influential down back collecting 36 possessions and 16 marks.
Corey Byrne and Cody Ninyette both made their league debuts for the Demons with Ninyette kicking two goals.
The Sharks had the bye last week but before that they lost to the Bulldogs by five goals.
They last time Perth played East Fremantle was back in round 14 with the Demons hanging on for an 11-point victory. Earlier in the season it was the Sharks who got the chocolates, winning by 39 points.
In the reserves it was a seesawing game with both Perth and South Fremantle kicking 12.11 (83) apiece. This was the Demons second draw of the season and they find themselves in sixth place on the ladder, three wins out of the top five.
Fraser Millar performed strongly with 24 disposals, six marks, five tackles and eight I50’s and could be in line for a recall to the league team.
Back in round 14 Perth recorded a 13-point victory over East Fremantle at Lathlain Park while earlier in the season it was the Sharks who won by 28-points at ATOM Stadium.
In the colts the Demons came from behind against the Bulldogs to win by 21-points and go two wins clear at the top of the table. Joseph Ugle and Cody Kickett were superb for Perth with the two combining for 42 possessions, eight marks, 10 tackles, six I50’s and three goals.
However though the win could come at a cost with Kickett, Arnold Punch and James Bereyne all on report.
The Demons are undefeated against the Sharks in the colts this season, winning by 35-points back in round 14 and by 33-points earlier in the season.
