Colts Leading the Way in the Community
While this year hasn't been ideal on field for Andrew Ruck and his young colts squad, off field the boys are really stepping up and doing their bit for the community.
Operations Manager of Helius Energy (Colts major sponsor) Lisa Cuthbert has provided the opportunity for the Perth Colts to give back to people much less fortunate.
Lisa and her daughter Shania volunteer every Sunday with Manna Inc in Victoria Park, preparing food and cooking for up to 250 homeless people. Manna Inc provide over 90,000 meals annually for the homeless, with each day depending on volunteers so food can be prepped and taken into an inner city park.
When Lisa mentioned the thought of our colts volunteering to coach Andrew Ruck, she was taken aback by how many were willing to put their hand up and volunteer.
"The Perth Football Club have a great group of colts and I think it is great that they are willing to give up their Sunday to help out those much less fortunate in our community."
"The boys get to see another side of life and then really appreciate the opportunity they have in being able to play football and do something they love and then go home to a family each day with plenty of food in their bellies."
The colts have now volunteered for two Sundays with coach Andrew Ruck also putting his hand up to help out. Corey Taylor, Zak Tanner, Nyika John and Damien Bennell gave up their time on the first Sunday and Joey Ugle and Luke English were masterchefs in the making on the second Sunday.
"The Perth Football Club should be very proud of their colts, as well as the parents of these boys."
