Round 8 Match Preview v Subiaco Lions
The Perth Demons are ready to take on the undefeated Subiaco Lions at Lathlain Park on Saturday, after what was a character win against Claremont last weekend. The team and coaches are aware of the challenge that awaits them, respecting that Subiaco have comfortably accounted for every team in the competition to date.
Round 7 was testament to the resilience and improvement of the Demons in the 2018 season. The character shown to fight back from 22 points behind in the last quarter was outstanding - to win with the last kick of the day a great ending.
The desire and determination shown in that last quarter will be required over four quarters to get a positive result this weekend.
“We’re looking forward to the challenge of playing the team who is the best in the competition this year,” Coach Earl Spalding stated.
Anton Scotney and Mitch Lague make their return to the senior side to replace Luke Salamone and the suspended Kasey Nicholas.
Perth will need strong performances from their senior players, especially those through the midfield to help nullify what is a powerful on ball Subiaco unit.
“We are continuing to challenge the playing group to strive for improvement, the game this weekend will give all players a chance to step up and play at the level required to compete with the best in WAFL,” Spalding stated about his expectations for Round 8.
