Round 16 Match Review: Demons v Sharks.
The Round 15 contest saw the Demons take one step closer to ending our finals drought when we defeated the Sharks by a commanding 41 points.
The East Fremantle Sharks held a three-point lead at quarter-time. By the long break, we had gained the lead. A solid performance saw the Demons take control in the second half, kicking nine goals to three.
The classy Jared Bell made his return to the League team after two years out recovering from two knee reconstructions.
Forwards Spencer White and Kristian Cary produced valuable returns to complement the team’s strong midfield work.
Kristian Cary delivered an outstanding performance, with 23 possessions and five goals, while Spencer White kicked four goals and Michael Bennell two.
Corey Yeo gathered 27 possessions for the Demons, Brant Colledge 27, Clint Jones 25, Michael Sinclair 25, Corey Byrne 22 and Cody Leggett 21. Clint Jones delivered the reliable and patient performance the Demons can expect of their Captain each week.
“We were poor early but it was great to see that we came home hard by playing the brand of footy that we know we can play,” Coach Earl Spalding stated after the game.
At the close of Round 16, the Demons hold fourth spot on the ladder.
ROUND 17: Demons fans, let’s rally around the boys and cheer them on this Saturday at Leederville Oval as we take on the East Perth Royal.
