How do you think the season is going so far?

We started off really well with a 5-0 start, but we lost the momentum over the bye week. I think we were complacent in the two games back after the bye. We were lucky to bounce back against Swans with a win, but then we had a tough game against Subiaco, who are the benchmark of the competition. We have another block of four games until the next bye which we need to use to really set our season up.

What keeps the team motivated at this point in the season?

There are bits of opportunities for guys who come up from the reserves because of injuries. A lot of the guys have been performing really well in the reserves and given the opportunity, come up and perform well in the senior grade. It shows that if you keep playing well and you’re finding good form, opportunities do arise. The guys that have come up, have made an impact at the League level.

How do you handle the pressure that footy brings?

For me it's all about the routine. With the weekly diet and preparation it helps to relieve pressure. I just keep everything simple.

What is your vision for the rest of the season?

Consistent effort across the four quarters for the remainder of the games. If we continue to win more games than we lose we will hold the Club in a really good position come finals. We haven’t played in the finals in anyone’s time here currently, and it is a massive opportunity that we don’t want to waste.

What has been your highlight of the season so far?

The Round 1 win over West Coast. We came into the competition with a lot of unknowns. They had a lot of AFL listed players and we needed to get over that and focus on winning. The result was a great way to start our 120th year celebration. Also, the five wins in a row was the best start we have had in a long time. It was an exciting part of the season and we want to get back to the form we started with.

How are you and the team feeling heading into Round 11 vs Peel Thunder?

It is going to a big challenge. They have a number of AFL listed players. It is going to be an effort based game. Whoever is prepared to work harder on the day will be the team who comes away with the win.
