A letter from the General Manager
Dear members and supporters of the Perth Football Club,
Thank you for your ongoing support of the Perth Football Club. As a football community we are all living in unprecedented times as we navigate the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. What unfolds over the coming months is likely to be the biggest challenge we have encountered as a club, and community, in recent times.
The health and safety of our players, coaches, staff, members and supporters is our priority. We are working with the WAFC and AFL on the best approach to minimise the impact of the virus. At every stage we will follow the advice of the government and our governing bodies.
This means that we have implemented several protective measures, including the closure of Mineral Resources Park. Our office is not open to the public and our staff have been asked to work remotely where possible.
Training has been suspended for a period of 10 days, with the playing group being equipped with medical advice to combat the spread of the virus and at-home training schedules.
Over the last few weeks we have had many phone calls and questions regarding the impact the COVID-19 virus will have on the 2020 WAFL Season. We share your concerns and are working through this with other WAFL clubs, the WAFC and the AFL.
Unfortunately, we do not have all the answers right now, but what I can assure you is that we will distribute updates as they come available. As such, I ask that you do not contact the club directly seeking answers that we do not have. We will be distributing updates on the website and social media platforms.
This situation is changing rapidly, and we share your disappointment that the season will be impacted. Over the coming days, weeks and months we will be able to share more information with you, working to distribute this information as quickly as possible.
Our club needs your support more than ever as we work through this difficult period. We are known for having the most loyal supporters in the WAFL and are calling on your continued support to help our club see our next 120 years. Our club and competition have already been significantly impacted and we are aware that these impacts will continue.
As more information is made available, we will be in contact.
We hope you stay safe and healthy during this time.
Kind regards,
Russ Clark
General Manager
