Mid-Season Update: Club President, Bob Shields
Members & Sponsors,
I wanted to let you know that your Club is weathering this COVID-19 pellmell season in good shape, and Financially we budget to break even without needing to call on our reserves.
Perth and the other WAFL Clubs have been working with the WAFC as it reshapes itself, and we can confirm that WAFL Football will look different in season 2021-more later on that.
There is a buzz around the Club - the business of PFC is much improved, with patronage and bar numbers up. Our General Manager Russell Clark has been in the Chair for six months and made significant changes, with more to come.
PFC has a very professional Board and I am proud to announce that former Captain and Premiership Player Brian Cook has joined to Board to takeover duties in Partnerships & Sponsors where long-term stalwart and vice-President Wayne Smith has had to retire.
PFC has committed two directors to focus on Community Projects and like several WAFL Clubs we are expanding our reach into the Perth community.
Events are less due to CV19- but our Gala Auction is online right now. Please check out the items and bid - you will have fun and support our major fundraiser.
PFC’s new Headquarters Project is moving forward - the Town of Victoria Park has confirmed its commitment, and we hope to see construction start later next year.
Football is of course what you want to hear about - and we are 4th and we’ll-placed with 3 wins from 4 games. We lost to West Perth last Saturday by 7 points, which makes our task to stay in the Four harder. I am pleased to report that my West Perth guests told me in the final quarter “this is a different Perth-in past seasons, Perth would have folded by now!”
The coaches, players and certainly your President would like another crack at West Perth this season, and the only way is to win two of the next four games – so we are in the Finals!
Two reasons why “Perthies “should be at these final four games: Logan McDonald who has been a sensation in his four league games and a Colts player in Nathan O’Driscoll who is working his way upwards to a League debut.
Buy the new scarf or beanie - whatever it takes, and rejoin if you have not yet done so.
Your President and your Players want to see a sea of Red & Black at these crucial four games. See you there.
