A FOOTBALL Story – Doug Buckingham
We have completed production of a project around the History of the “Doug Buckingham Memorial Award”. The 2021 recipient will mark the 69th winner as the “Most Outstanding PFC Junior”. This has become a Roll of Honour of many of the game’s greatest players who started their careers in our “Red and Black”.
This is only a snapshot chronology which often starts ……. “I didn’t know him, but” ….!!
As the compilation progressed however it was impossible to ignore the heights being achieved, expectations, rewards and the what's next, with an overwhelming reality that belies the word.
- The result is a 131 page A4 tabloid format we trust has done justice to an important ongoing Legacy of our Club. The period 1945 to 1955 covers Doug’s, the Club’s, and WAFL and Interstate Football of the era. Also included is a rare 1953 Team Photo of Doug’s last game v Claremont at the WACA, Saturday 23 May 1953. (Which we Won!!)
- We shall continue a “rolling launch”, at the Club from Thursday afternoon 19 August, Friday 20th and Sunday 22nd, a PFC Bye weekend.
- Phone and Email orders also as below, “Donations” also for us to carry on more work as custodians of the clubs proud history.
A self publication, is also available on match days from the History Centre.
- We are asking $30 per copy, Payment by Card, Cash, or EFT into our PPOA History Centre account: -
