Penrhos Exhibition Match
Round one of the WAFL season provided an exciting opportunity for the Penrhos College Football Program to showcase their skills in an exhibition match at Mineral Resources Park, which was the curtain raiser for the clash between the Perth Football Club and West Coast Eagles.
The Perth Football Club and Penrhos College have shared an inspiring partnership over the past 12 months - which has seen Perth senior players as coaches for the year 7/8, 9/10 and 11/12 football teams. The improvement and skill development that all the Penrhos players have made over the past term were on full display at Mineral Resources Park on Saturday.
There were terrific contributions from all the girls on the day, especially Ruby York (year 10) who stood out with her ability to kick the ball long whilst Matilda Power (year 8) showed some exciting dash through the middle of the field.
Given the success of the exhibition match, there will certainly be more opportunities for Penrhos College to showcase their football development with the Perth Football Club at Mineral Resources Park. With the rapid growth in women’s football, it is exciting for the Perth Football Club to be able to help grow women’s football at Penrhos College and throughout our wider community.
