Colts R9 Match Summary - Elijah Scoble
Saturday 18/6
The Demons were away on Saturday facing South Fremantle in Round 9 of the WAFL Colt’s fixture. Michael Hall got the Demons the start they wanted with a goal and he continued to look dangerous in the early minutes. Youngster Quayden Roe took his chance as he always does and put the Demons up by 14 points.
South Fremantle got off to a good start in the second with two goals. A goal from Noah Murray put the Demons back up mid-way through the second. Perth kept up the pressure but couldn’t capitalise.
Debutant Kalib Dempster-Park found his feet in the first half while Cameron Hall stood firm down back.
The third quarter got underway, and it was a close contest as the margin stood within 2 points for the first 15 minutes of the quarter. Sam Cameron was fighting hard inside, getting his hands on the ball. The Demons kicked 2 goals late in the third, putting them up by 15 points at the final break.
Campbell Duff pushed the lead to a game-high 21 points early in the last quarter. South Fremantle then came back, kicking 4 four goals and putting them up by 2 points with 10 minutes to go. However, some Michael Hall magic saw Perth up by four late in the game. South Fremantle came back hard with the ball stuck in their forward 50, but the Demons could hang on, winning by 3 points.
Perth’s best was Sam Cameron, working his heart out with 27 touches, 7 inside 50’s and a much-deserved goal. Chase Bourne was South Fremantle’s best player with 27 touches, 6 tackles, 7 inside 50’s and a goal.
