Perth Indigenous Story Unveiled
Perth Football Club has a long and proud indigenous history. To ensure this legacy is embraced by future members, supporters, players and staff, we wanted to acknowledge this important chapter in our cultural diversity and showcase a bespoke range of merchandise.
This is the next step in our cultural awareness program, in addition to our player and staff development. It also provides a segway into more tangible support for our Aboriginal roots beyond the club rooms.
We had such strong support and feedback, following the NAIDOC jumper Sam Stubbs designed last year. This was well received by the club and wider community, so we decided to embrace this and have a different and unique design done to reflect the history of the club, one that we could use on some of our merchandise.
It is vital that our past and present members, the community and PFC Board and staff, understand the depth of the heritage and what it means beyond this decade.
We asked that the design reflected the club’s history, our proud diversity, our broad demographic and supportive framework. Kevin Bynder’s commitment to Indigenous art and his style of work, we believed, would suit our desire going forward, so we engaged Kevin to design a piece of artwork for Perth Football Club.
We strongly believe that this design, on some of our merchandise, we can use to promote the Perth Football Club story and provide a merchandise range that is innovative in design and reached our objectives.
