Demons Fade After Promising Start
By Mark Thornber
After a promising start Perth faded after quarter time to go down to Swan Districts by 49 points on Saturday at Steel Blue Oval.
Perth led at the first change and looked good early on before the black and whites took control of the match. Former AFL stars Paul Bevan and Chance Bateman were clearly the best for the Demons along with Matthew Moody, who continues to look in peak condition and set to spend more time in the midfield.
New recruits David Johnston and Jackson Sketcher continued to impress and youngster Reece Richardson showed great pace throughout the match. In the end though a lack of goal kickers was the difference between the two sides as Perth experiments with key forwards before the start of the new season.
Next week the Demons finish off their pre season campaign with a match against East Fremantle at Brownes Stadium.
