Gosnells AFC Volunteer awarded OAM
Gosnells Football Club Treasurer, Robert (Bob) Uittenbroek has achieved a new level of achievement, receiving an Order of Australia (OAM) for his service to Football in WA.
Having already received Life Memberships from Gosnells FC, East Fremantle FC, WAFL and the WAFC, Bob’s huge commitment to football has seen him recognised with an honour coming directly from the Australian Government.
Currently in his 70’s, Bob has dedicated the majority of his life to football, starting at Gosnells Football Club at the young age of 16.
In 1973 Bob joined the East Fremantle Football Club as Secretary, and moved up the ranks, taking the reigns as General Manger in 1978.
Bob held the General Manager role for 32 years before retiring in 2005 but continuing to commit his life to football.
Currently volunteering at Gosnells FC and East Fremantle FC as Treasurer and EFFC Board of Directors respectively, Bob also finds time to donate his entire Wednesday to assisting at Clubswa.
Gosnells Football Club President, Micheal McCaughlan, said Gosnells Football Club was very proud of Bob’s achievements and was very grateful for his tireless efforts for the club.
“It’s a great honour to have Bob involved with the Club, we consider ourselves extremely lucky to have someone so dedicated and committed”.
“Bob’s knowledge and experience in football is inspirational for many of the boys, this award is very well deserved” McCaughlan said.
The Western Australian Amateur Football League would like to Congratulate Bob on this fantastic achievement, and thank him for his undying efforts to progress WA football forward.
