AFL NATIONAL COACHING CONFERENCE - ADELAIDE, FEBRUARY 2014
November 2013
Coach Development is absolutely vital for the Auskick coach through to the Elite Senior coach. For a coach to remain aware of current practises and trends in the game, and simply to revitalise their approach to training and game day; mingling with other coaches, listening to those in the field every day, and having the opportunity to discuss their own ideas, is paramount to staying on top of the game.
On a yearly basis the National Conference for coaches of AFL is conducted across a pre-season weekend. The venues are varied and in the past have included the new Gold Coast facility, the hallowed grounds of the MCG, and Olympic Park in Western Sydney. The 2014 Conference will be based at the revamped Adelaide Oval, the new home of AFL games in South Australia.
The conference runs from Friday evening 31st January to Sunday afternoon February 2nd. There are always a wide range of sessions to choose from and the guest key note speakers are outstanding; including AFL Coaches, Olympic Athletes and world class coaches. In concurrent sessions you might find yourself sitting next to and chatting with David Parkin, Peter Schwabb or Paul Roos.
If you are an accredited coach the fee for the entire weekend is $360 which includes glorious lunches, outstanding morning and afternoon teas and some after hours refreshments. Often a Saturday Night dinner catered for and may include the appearance of a world class comedian or inspirational speaker. In 2012 coaches were hosted by the Greater Western Sydney Club at their first NAB Cup game in Blacktown.
Of course flights and accommodation are your own responsibility, so team up with a fellow coach and share some costs.
This is an absolutely exciting event for coaches who love the game, love coaching, and would simply love to mingle with the greats.
