DEMONS UPDATE
EDITION ONE – NOVEMBER 2013
BY ANDREW OWEN
Hello and welcome to the first edition of the Demons Update.
Over the next four months we will be bringing you regular updates about all the news concerning the Perth Football Club in the lead up to the first bounce of the 2014 AAMI WAFL Premiership season.
Damien McMahon Re-signs
As you may have already heard Damien McMahon has signed on to coach the league side for Season 2014.
After leading the team to its most successful season since 2004, the club were pleased that McMahon has accepted their contract extension and they look forward to working with Damien throughout the year.
Mitch Morton Becomes a Demon
Mitch Morton, who retired from the AFL at the end of the 2013 season, has decided to continue his playing career back in his home state with the Perth Demons.
Morton will now play alongside his brother Jarryd who was a strong contributor in the second half of the season.
Morton spent nine years in the AFL with West Coast, Richmond and Sydney, playing 83 games and kicking 116 goals and has signed a three-year deal with the club.
Gerald Ugle Comes Home
Gerald Ugle will play for the Demons in 2014, providing he does not get picked up in the upcoming drafts.
Ugle played three games in two years for Greater Western Sydney before being delisted at the end of this season.
Ugle has signed on for two years.
Andrew Ruck Added to the Coaching Department
Former Claremont Ruckman Andrew Ruck will be a new addition in the coaches’ box for the 2014 season.
Ruck last played for the Tigers in 2012 and has 74 appearances next to his name.
Pre Season Training
Well it’s that time of the year again where the singlets come out and the players and coaches hit the track in preparation for the upcoming season.
Training sessions at Lathlain Park will be held on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays, beginning at 5.30pm.
2014 Memberships Now Available
Memberships for the 2014 season are now available from the office and also online.
The club had great support throughout the 2013 season and with finals in sight would love to see that support continue into next year.
This year the club is giving members the chance to win an Apple iPad Mini 16GB WI-Fi Cellular White for those that purchase memberships before close of business on Thursday December 19.
This fantastic prize has been donated by The Good Guys Belmont.
AGM Fast Approaching
The 2013 Members AGM is less than two weeks away.
The AGM will be held on Monday December 9 in the Main Hall at Lathlain Park, commencing at 7:30pm.
Members Christmas Party
Christmas is almost here & what better way to start the silly season than a visit to Lathlain Park to watch the senior player’s go through their final training session of 2013.
This is the perfect chance to catch up with other Demon supporters, as well as the players, coaches & support staff & find out what is happening at the club, whilst enjoy a free sausage sizzle & Christmas drink.
The Christmas Party will be held on Friday December 20 and start 5:30pm in the can bar at Lathlain.
