Welcome to the Team - Kevin Evans
Over the past three years Bruce Fraser has filled the role as District Coach Co-ordinator and grew the profile of the role through coach education and mentoring coaches to higher standards. In late 2013 Bruce was employed by the WAFC to the role as Development Officer for the Perth District, and whilst he will retain a strong presence in the Coach Education port folio knew that it was vital to acquire the support of a new District Coach Co-ordinator.
With great enthusiasm Mr Kevin Evans discovered the opportunity on the Perth District website and expressed his interest in the role.
Kevin has a long history with junior football through one of our local clubs and has filled almost every game day role there is, whilst his son progressed through the ranks. His son has now transitioned on to a local amateur club and Kevin is keen to give back to the District and Junior Football in particular.
In Kevin’s professional life he has been a small business owner, a manager and an educator, with the most relevant experience, being a Workplace Trainer and Assessor.
Initially Kevin will attend the WA Football Commission’s Professional Development course for Coach Co-ordinators (a new initiative in 2014) and will then be introduced to clubs through JCC meetings and the Level 1 courses.
Kevin’s mandate for 2014 will be to mentor and develop the Community Club Coach Co-ordinators, to support Level 1 coaches, assist with coach education and the formation of the District Coaches Club, and to forge links between the Perth District and local Amateur Clubs.
Bruce Fraser will continue to oversee Coach Education, and mentor and assess Level 2 aspirants, whilst guiding and supporting Kevin.
For his great enthusiasm and commitment to the role Kevin will receive a nominal honorarium and be sponsored to attend the National AFL Coaches Conference in Adelaide in January 2014.
The District appreciates Kevin’s initial enthusiasm and welcomes him in to the role.
