The Fixtures Are Out!
THE FIXTURES ARE OUT!
BY ANDREW OWEN
The fixtures are now out for the 2014 WAFL Season.
CEO Marty Atkins had this to say.
Welcome Demon fans to season 2014.
In relation to the fixtures I want to say with all the CEO’s being involved with the process, we now understand just how difficult setting the fixtures is.
This being considered our fixtures aren’t great, but we have accepted them and the season can’t start soon enough.
The first seven weeks sees us only playing at home twice, with a bye in round four. We play the top four teams from 2013 in our first five games, with the other game being a night clash against the Bulldogs, which is always a big test.
It’s a tough start, but if results go our way and we record some wins, we will have a chance to consolidate with four home games from rounds eight to 11, with the State game bye in between.
The second half of the season again does not present the home, away, home, away run that we have all grown up with, but we do host the Royals and Swans at home twice during the year, which we hope brings in the big crowds which adds to the atmosphere.
The fixtures are what they are, at the end of the day you have to play a team and generally if you play well, you win, which is the result all Demon fans want.
See you at the footy this year,
Marty
