Clontarf SHS Progress To Next Round In Eagles Schoolboys Cup
On Tuesday 29th of July the Demons District descended on Moora Football Club to play the annual Metro vs Country zone final for the Eagles Schoolboys Cup. Clontarf SHS (metro) went up against Dongara SHS (country) for the title of Demons District champions.
The game got underway in fine conditions with four 15min quarters. Clontarf jumped the gun from the very start, with a strong advantage in the ruck, combined with some silky smooth skills and explosive running they held a strong lead at quarter time.
But the boys from Dongara came out fighting in the second quarter adding three quick goals to make it a close contest. As all good sides do when challenged, the Clontarf squad went up a gear, taking on the challenge and surging forward.
Clontarf were never troubled from then on, romping to a 60-point victory and a spot in the next stage, which will take place as the Curtin raiser before the West Coast Eagles and Collingwood game this weekend. (Opponent TBA).
Regional Development Manager Glen Collins and Metro District Officer Chris Brown were there on the day to awarded the best on ground medal and the winners trophy.
A big congratulations to both teams and a big good luck to Con Regan and Clontarf as they attempt to become state champions!
