Finals Heats Up
Last weekend the semi finals for teams throughout the Demons District were played at Belmont, Huntingdale, Gosnells and Maddington respectively.
The great weather over the weekend allowed for the big crowds to attend and witness the hard fought contests and outstanding sportsmanship that was on display.
The winners on the day were Thornlie Green who advanced through to the year seven grand final, Manning Rippers who made it through in year eight, Maddington Bulls in year nine, South Perth Stingrays in year ten, Kalamunda in the Brian Cook Eastern Conference, Ellenbrook in the Tony Notte Eastern Conference and Mt Lawley in the Ryan Turnbull Eastern Conference.
The best game of the round came in the fixture between Kalamunda and High Wycombe at Gosnells on Sunday. High Wycombe kicked six straight goals in the second half to hit the lead late in the match after being behind all day. Kalamunda steadied though to grab the lead back and hold on for a narrow win.
Congratulations to all the teams who participated over the weekend and best of luck for the teams that made the grand final and for those that didn’t, well done on getting this far.
Thank you to our host clubs Belmont, Huntingdale, Gosnells and Maddington for doing a great job and we now look forward to what will be a big weekend of preliminary finals action.
