Round 5 Preview Perth V Claremont
This week Perth takes on Claremont at the Showgrounds. This match will see one team finally get off the mark for season 2015.
Last week a determined Demons side lead at every change but narrowly went down by 5-points to Peel Thunder.
Aidan Tropiano (35 disposals, 4 marks, 3 tackles, 5 I50’s) led the way again and was helped by Liam McKenna (30 possessions, 7 marks, 8 I50’s), Michael Sinclair (28 disposals, 9 marks, 6 tackles, 5 I50’s), Michael Florio (25 possessions, 5 marks, 5 I50’s), Daniel O’Sullivan (25 disposals, 7 marks, 5 I50’s, 2 goals) and David Johnston (20 possessions, 12 marks).
The Tigers also had a close loss last weekend, going down by 3-points to East Fremantle.
The Demons will have to be wary of Thomas Ledger (36 disposals, 8 marks), Jack Bradshaw (26 possessions, 9 marks, 4 I50’s, 4 goals) and Keifer Yu (25 disposals, 6 I50’s, 3 goals) who all impressed last week.
Perth (reserves) won their second game of the season when they accounted for Peel (reserves) by 49-points.
Joel Kalajzic (25 possessions, 5 marks, 5 I50’s) and Kieran Hug (25 disposals, 10 tackles) both responded well to being dropped during the week while Blake Borrett (19 possessions, 4 marks, 5 tackles, 41 hitouts) continues to impress in his new role as a ruckman.
Claremont (reserves) defeated East Fremantle (reserves) by 47-points last week and former Demon Haydn Busher (36 disposals, 6 marks, 4 tackles, 4 I50’s, 1 goal) could be in line for a recall after impressing.
Perth (colts) overcame a sluggish start to eventually defeat the Peel (colts) by 25-points.
The Demons were well served by Kayle Phillips (35 possessions, 8 marks, 5 I50’s, 1 goal), Chapman Jones (22 disposals, 6 I50’s), Ben Cable (22 possessions, 7 marks, 1 goal) and Marshall Jones (16 disposals, 3 goals).
Claremont (colts) meanwhile had a comfortable 47-point win against East Fremantle last week.
The colts will start at 9am this Saturday while the reserves will kick off at 11:30am and the league game will begin at 2:15pm.
