Round 11 Preview Perth V South Fremantle
This week Perth will be looking to bounce back after a narrow loss to Swan Districts last week. The Demons had a strong first quarter which put them three goals ahead at the first break but Swans rallied kicking eight of the next nine goals giving them a 21-point lead heading in to the last quarter.
Perth kicked four goals in seven minutes halfway through the final term to give them a chance of victory but late goals to Matthew Rogers and Matthew Jukes gave Swan Districts a seven point win.
This week’s opponents South Fremantle are coming off a stirring come from behind victory against arch rivals East Fremantle on WA Day. The Dogs were down by 32-points at quarter time and were almost four goals down early in the last quarter. Goals to Ryan Cook (23 possessions, 10 marks, 3 goals), Corey Dell’Olio (19 disposals, 4 goals), Marlon Pickett (19 possessions, 6 tackles, 5 I50’s, 1 goal) and Paul Mugambwa got South Fremantle over the line by five points.
Last time these two teams met the Bulldogs took the spoils, winning by 10-points despite a late come back from the Demons.
Perth (reserves) last week recorded a four point win against Swan Districts (reserves) while South Fremantle (reserves) had a massive 61-point victory over East Fremantle (reserves).
Michael Sinclair (35 disposals, 16 marks, 1 goal) was impressive in his comeback from injury while Jarrad Irons (20 possessions, 6 marks, 4 I50’s) was solid in his first game for the year.
Other players who could push for a league call up were Kane Ransted (22 disposals, 6 marks, 7 I50’s, 1 goal), Hayden Tanner (21 possessions, 4 marks, 3 tackles, 5 I50’s), Daniel Arangio (16 disposals, 9 marks, 7 I50’s, 2 goals), Blake Borrett (15 possessions, 8 marks, 3 tackles, 20 hitouts, 3 goals) and Brennan Stack (14 disposals, 6 marks, 4 goals).
Perth (colts) last week went down by 22-points to Swan Districts (colts) while South Fremantle (colts) lost by 52-points to East Fremantle (colts)
The colts kick off the action at 9am with the reserves getting underway at 11:30am and the league game starting at 2:15pm.
