Swans Defeat the Demons
Monday, June 22, 2015 - 10:00 AM by Andrew Owen
Swan Districts defeated Perth by 32-points in wet conditions at Lathlain Park on Saturday, moving them up to third position on the ladder.
Swans were only narrowly in front midway through the third term before the weather took a turn for the worse. This seemed to kick the team into gear though and from there they got the ascendency and went on to win the match 12.10 (82) to the Demons 7.8 (50).
Perth was held goalless in the first quarter while Swan Districts were wasteful in front of goals and should have led by more than 14-points at quarter time.
The Demons who were led by Callum Collard came out firing in the second term. Collard kicked three of Perth’s five goals for the quarter to go into half time three-points ahead.
In a scrappy third quarter Swans outscored the Demons kicking three goals to one before the heavens opened up. In wet and slippery conditions Swan Districts were able to pile on the pressure in the last term, breaking Perth’s resistance, kicking five goals to one to seal victory.
Aidan Tropiano was again one of the Demons better performers with 29 possessions while Dene White (26 disposals, 4 marks, 4 tackles, 6 I50’s), Liam McKenna (25 possessions, 4 marks, 4 tackles, 4 I50’s), Jacob Payne (22 disposals, 5 marks, 3 tackles), Callum Collard (14 possessions, 3 marks, 6 tackles, 3 goals) and Mitch Morton (14 disposals, 4 marks, 4 I50’s, 3 goals) also strong contributors throughout the day.
Swans completed a clean sweep winning the reserves by 26-points and the colts by 35-points.
Next week Perth travel down to Mandurah to take on Peel Thunder on Saturday.
