Perth Miss Chance to Win
Perth was gallant for three quarters but it wasn’t enough as East Perth ran out the game winning by 20-points.
The Demons were down by just one-point heading into the last quarter but the Royals kicked five goals to two to claim the 13.9 (87) to 9.13 (67) victory.
Kyle Anderson kicked two goals in the last quarter and three for the match to again prove the difference against Perth. Anderson kicked seven when these teams last played back in round six. Interestingly Anderson has kicked 12 career goals, 11 of them have been against the Demons.
Perth started the game brightly, kicking the first two goals of the game but late goals to Anderson and Paddy Brophy saw East Perth with a three-point leading at quarter time.
Both teams battled it out in the second term before the Royals were able to kick three quick goals through Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls and two to former Demon Fraser McInnes, giving them a 20-point lead.
Callum Walley got one back for Perth and this had the Demons 14-points down at half time.
East Perth kicked a goal early in the third to extend their lead however from there it was pretty much all Perth.
When Brennan Stack kicked his second goal of the quarter the Demons were only one-point down. Malcolm Karpany kicked a steadier for the Royals before Walley responded for Perth.
East Perth finally broke the Demons resistance in the last quarter kicking five goals to two to record a 20-point win.
Aidan Tropiano continued his brilliant season collecting 34 possessions, while Liam McKenna was also good with 30 disposals. Brett Wolfenden (25 possessions, 5 marks, 6 tackles, 4 I50’s) and Brent Latch (20 disposals, 8 marks) were also strong contributors. Marshall Jones in his second league game showed that he is a bright prospect for the future, kicking three goals.
