Opening quarter surge sees Demons topple Sharks

A six-goal opening term has helped Perth to a 30-point victory over East Fremantle at New Choice Homes Park on Saturday.

Brady Grey was everywhere for the Demons, as the midfielder used the ball well with 29 disposals to go along with 10 inside 50s and nine tackles.

After a week hiatus from the Optus WAFL season due to the lockdown of the Perth and Peel regions, both teams were hungry to get the win.

PREMIERSHIP RUCKMAN DIES

Dual Perth premiership player Chester Mackean, who was a prominent member of coach Ken Armstrong’s strong league sides during the 1970s, died on February 22 after a battle with cancer. He was aged 66.

Chester was a strongly built athletic ruckman and skilful palmer of the ball. He made his league debut in 1973 and went on to play 100 games in a career that extended to 1980.
